Entercom Communications Sacramento, Raley Field, and RS Ice Sports & Entertainment Present The Biggest Show on Snow

Inaugural Winter Event Features Outdoor Hockey, Public Holiday Skating, Christmas Tree Lot, and More and Will Benefit the TLK Foundation
September 2, 2015

Entercom Communications Sacramento, Raley Field, and RS Ice Sports & Entertainment are pleased to announce the first ever Biggest Show on Snow, a six-week holiday extravaganza at Raley Field from Friday, November 20, through Sunday, January 3.

The Biggest Show on Snow will be highlighted by the Golden State Hockey Rush, an event designed to celebrate the exciting sport of ice hockey in the great State of California. The concept and mission of the GSHR is simple: to provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to actively participate in a number of hockey and winter-themed events.

Also incorporated in the event are a number of other attractions, including the "Monster Ice Slide" (used at the NHL All-Star Game in 2015 as well as a number of interactive hockey games around the country), public holiday skating, theme nights with Entercom Communications radio stations, Santa Claus picture opportunities, rides, arts and crafts, a Christmas Tree lot, and much more.

"Sacramento deserves something new and exciting for the holidays," said Todd Speelman, GSM/Director of Events for Entercom Communications. "Which is why we've created the Biggest Show on Snow and partnered with the GSHR for an incredible night of hockey."

On Friday, December 18, the GSHR and Raley Field host the first ever American Hockey League game held outdoors in western North America. Two of the AHL's newest franchises, the Stockton Heat and the visiting Bakersfield Condors, will go head-to-head in an official regular season AHL contest at 7:30 p.m.

"This event will be a special showcase for our Pacific Division in its inaugural season," said David Andrews, AHL President and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to this celebration of hockey outdoors and to sharing the experience with the terrific hockey fans in Northern California."

"We are extremely excited to be a part of the first ever minor league outdoor game on the west coast, said Dave Piecuch, President of the Stockton Heat. "The Sacramento area has a lot of passionate hockey fans and we are excited that they will be able experience this historic event, while at the same time ensuring that our loyal fans in Stockton will be able to take part in what will be an unforgettable night."

Tickets for this game go on sale Saturday, September 5 through the Raley Field website at www.raleyfield.com.

In addition to the Heat vs. Condors outdoor game, amateur teams from all levels and from across California will be participating in the first ever Golden State Hockey Rush Holiday Tournament. Mite, Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget, High School, Adult Leagues, and Sledge Hockey teams will all have the opportunity to play on this unique outdoor rink.

A number of local representatives from various organizations and partners will be on hand through the GSHR's stay at Raley Field. Among them are Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, Co-Owner and Executive Director of GSHR Rich Cubin, Vice President of Hockey Operations Laura Cahn, and Sacramento River Cats President Jeff Savage.

The Biggest Show on Snow will benefit the Treat'em Like a King (TLK) Foundation. The TLK Foundation, which was founded by former Sacramento Kings basketball player Harold Pressley, serves disadvantaged youth by hosting a variety of programs and events to develop and reinforce positive character traits and life skills.
