Timber Rattlers announce field renovation project

Team will replace entire playing surface beginning September 8
September 4, 2015

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are undertaking a major project immediately following the end of the 2015 season. The Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers will install additional drainage and replace the entire playing surface starting Tuesday, September 8.

Jake Hannes, the Timber Rattlers head grounds keeper, and the rest of Wisconsin's grounds crew will work with Midwest Athletic Fields of Watertown, Wisconsin on the project.

The project will begin with the removal of the infield grass, which will be donated to the baseball diamond of Weyauwega-Fremont High School. The Timber Rattlers front office will help with the installation of the sod at Weyauwega on Wednesday, September 9.

"We pride ourselves on having a state of the art playing surface and even though the field looks great, in order to ensure a great field for years to come, it is time for us to make these improvements," said Rob Zerjav, team president of the Timber Rattlers. "We are also excited to be able to reuse virtually our entire existing field by donating the sod and the warning track material to area high schools."
