Falleció Felipe Leal
Este ex lanzador de la novena saltillense destacó con esta organización en 1971, su único año con la franela al ser Campeón de Ponches con 223 rivales abanicados, récord que sigue vigente.
El béisbol mexicano ha perdido a uno de los más grandes lanzadores en la historia de la Liga, al fallecer este miércoles Felipe Leal.
El Rey de los Deportes era su más grande pasión, deporte que practicó desde niño y que lo llevó a ser uno de los mejores pitchers de la Liga Mexicana de Béisbol.
Leal murió la tarde del miércoles mientras dirigía un entrenamiento a un grupo de jóvenes de la Universidad Autónoma del Noroeste, cuando le sobrevino un infarto fulminante que acabó con la vida del ex pelotero profesional.
"Se va una persona que era completamente impulsora del béisbol, que se desprendía de su propio tiempo para dárselo a los demás, su legado perdurará siempre no sólo con Saraperos, sino con niños y jóvenes de Saltillo a los que entrenó", destacó Eduardo Valenzuela Guajardo, gerente general de la novena saltillense.
"Es muy lamentable, muy triste su muerte, fue una persona que dedicó toda su vida al béisbol, que llegó a Saraperos, se arraigó en la ciudad de Saltillo, fue un sarapero distinguido dentro de su época de pelotero, en la cual tuvo muy buenas temporadas y récords muy importantes".
Leal García fue reclutado para el Béisbol Mexicano por los Diablos Rojos del México con quienes jugó de 1965 a 1971 en que arribó a Saltillo, tuvo la oportunidad también de jugar en Ligas Menores en 1976 con los Angelinos de California, donde alcanzó a lanzar juego sin hit en Doble A con Albuquerque.
Con los Saraperos de Saltillo dio muestra de su calidad como lanzador en 1971 al cosechar 17 triunfos por 12 derrotas, cuatro blanqueadas, todo esto en 30 juegos, 3.00 de efectividad, 29 aperturas, 216 innings lanzados, 177 hits, 84 carreras y 223 ponches, su récord vigente aún, dando muestra de un "Brazo Fuerte" como siempre se le conoció.
Después de esa extraordinaria temporada jugó con Puebla en 1972, Monterrey de 1973 a 1974, Monterrey, Chihuahua a mitad de campaña en 1974 hasta 1975, Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo del 76 al 78 y cerró su carrera profesional como pelotero con Tampico en 1979.
En toda su carrera sumó 1381 ponches, los cuales lo posicionaron en el lugar 23 en este departamento en la LMB.
Tras su retiro, escribió páginas en la historia de Saraperos también como manager, pues comandó a la novena verde en 1987.
Además fue Presidente de la Liga Nuevos Valores, Manager del equipo del bachillerato Cbtis 97 y actualmente dirigía al equipo de a UANE, a quienes entrenaba antes de que perdiera la vida.
Su cuerpo fue velado en Saltillo donde tenía su residencia el jueves y este viernes se le oficiará una Misa de Cenizas en el Convento de la orden de San Juan en la carretera a los Rodríguez.
Todos los miembros de la Directiva de Saraperos de Saltillo, además de Jugadores y personal de la organización, así como de la Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, externan un abrazo solidario para la familia Leal García, nuestro pésame para su esposa Graciela Domínguez de Leal y su hija Graciela Leal Domínguez.
