September 6, 2015

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (September 6, 2015) - Cody Daily went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs, but West Virginia ran away with an 8-3 win over Kannapolis on Sunday at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. The Intimidators (29-39-1 Second Half, 64-73-1) dropped their third straight contest to the playoff-bound Power.

West Virginia built a 3-2 lead off Kannapolis starting pitcher Zach Thompson over the first fourth innings, and the Power surged against reliever Johnathan Frebis in the sixth. Pablo Reyes hit a three-run home run (12) and Elvis Escobar added a two-run double - one of six Power doubles on the day - to cap the big sixth inning.

Jose Regalado (7-5) earned the win with three scoreless relief innings after starting pitcher Yeudy Garcia allowed two runs in the first four frames. Garcia was pulled after four innings, ensuring his 2.10 ERA will lead the South Atlantic League, as Augusta's Mark Reyes finished the season with a 2.13 ERA.

Thompson (3-8) took the loss for Kannapolis, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts in four innings of work. The White Sox fifth round pick from the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft finished his 2015 campaign with a streak of 10 straight starts with at least four strikeouts.

Daily connected on RBI-singles in the fourth and ninth innings, driving in Alexander Simon twice. Simon finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

The Intimidators wrap up the 2015 regular season on Monday at 1:05 p.m. as RHP Thaddius Lowry (12-7, 4.33 ERA) takes the mound for Kannapolis against West Virginia's RHP Alex McRae (7-9, 5.07 ERA) at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System.
