Sounds announce 2007 schedule

Greer Stadium hosts season opener on April 5

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The two-time defending division champion Nashville Sounds released their 2007 playing schedule and will host 72 games at Greer Stadium during their 30th season of competition.

The 2007 schedule includes 11 homestands consisting of 14 day games and 33 weekend dates (Fri.-Sun.). The schedule also includes one road doubleheader (May 2 at Iowa).

The Sounds open their Pacific Coast League schedule on Thursday, April 5 at Greer Stadium against the New Orleans Zephyrs. Nashville will open the season at home for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

The Sounds conclude the regular season at AutoZone Park in Memphis, where they'll wrap up the 2007 campaign with a 2:10 p.m. contest on Labor Day against the cross-state rival Redbirds.

In 2007, the Sounds will play most of their American Conference opponents 16 times (with 18 games against Oklahoma and 15 meetings with Albuquerque and Iowa). Nashville will host each of the four Pacific Conference Southern Division teams -- Fresno, Las Vegas, Sacramento, and Tucson -- in four-game sets at Greer Stadium. The Sounds will travel to each of the four Pacific Northern clubs -- Colorado Springs, Portland, Salt Lake, and Tacoma -- for four-game sets.

The Sounds will also host Belmont University in the team's annual preseason exhibition contest on Wednesday, April 4 at Greer Stadium.

The 2007 season will be the Sounds' 10th in the Pacific Coast League and their third as the Milwaukee Brewers' top affiliate. The 2007 promotional schedule will be released at a later date.
