Keys Post Fourth-Highest Attendance in Club History
FREDERICK, Md. -The 2015 season proved to be an outstanding one at the turnstiles for the Frederick Keys. This year, 328,789 fans attended a Keys game, the fourth-highest mark in club history, and the top figure in all of Advanced-A baseball. It was also the team's best mark since 1994, when the Keys posted their largest average attendance in franchise history.
Thanks to a dedicated fan base, the Keys put together one of their most successful years since the club's founding. Stretching across Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, Keys nation grew stronger thanks to great promotions, theme nights and fun giveaways. Additionally, the Keys new naming rights partnership with Nymeo helped elevate the overall fan experience.
"On behalf of the entire Frederick Keys organization, we would like to thank our loyal fan base and the greater Frederick community around us for their continued and devoted support," said Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis. "We are quite fortunate and humbled to have the pleasure of operating in such a thriving marketplace."
This year, the orange and black averaged more than 4,900 fans per game, while opening 67 times. Across the Carolina League, the Keys were the only club to exceed more than 300,000 in total attendance, a barrier Frederick has eclipsed each of the last four years. Taking into account 29 other clubs in the Carolina, California and Florida State Leagues, the Keys have paced Advanced-A baseball in attendance each of the last four years.
In the Keys 27-year history, the club has drawn 300,000 fans or more in a season 14 times, while since the team's inception, more than 7.7 million fans have attended a Keys game. Currently, the orange and black are on pace to welcome their eight millionth fan at some point during the 2016 campaign.
The Frederick Keys kickoff their 2016 campaign on Thursday, April 7 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on the Grand Strand. Planning is already underway for next season, while a full schedule complete with game times will be released at a later date.
