September 22, 2010
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Minor League Baseball is hosting the first of three sports turf clinics on Fri, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Durham Athletic Park (DAP), in Durham, N.C., which it operates.

Representatives from the sports turf industry will discuss a variety of topics and techniques, including rebuilding home plate and pitcher's mound, budgeting product and money, CEU credits available, winterizing equipment, aerification, turfgrass renovation and maintenance, soil and tissue testing, and nutrient sources.

Last fall, 89 representatives from MiLB clubs, soccer associations, high schools and parks & recreations employees, among others, attended Minor League Baseball's inaugural clinic that focused on winterizing a facility.

Brickman SportsTurf, a division of the Brickman Group that provides the maintenance and sports turf training at the DAP for Minor League Baseball, will help run the clinic.

Anyone interested in attending Friday's clinic should call 919-530-8400, or email [email protected]. The clinic is sponsored by Musco Lighting, Rain Bird, Turface, Carolina Green and Burnett Athletics.

Registration materials regarding the other two clinics, scheduled for Fri, Oct. 22 and Fri, Nov. 12, will be available next week.
