2015 Sea Dogs Season in Review

The Portland Sea Dogs 2015 season didn't result in a playoff berth or winning record, but still saw its fair share of exciting moments and highly rated prospects throughout the year. Here's a look at some of the accomplishments and highlights that took place in 2015.

Records
•   Set team single-month highs for September in hits (68) and total bases (101).
•   Manuel Margot set single-month highs for September in hits (14), RBI (11), and total bases (25).
•   Madison Younginer became the fifth player in franchise history to have a 0.00 ERA in a month (June - min. 50 BF).
•   Tim Roberson (5/15 @ New Britain) and Manuel Margot (9/6 vs. New Britain) became the third and fourth Sea Dogs players to hit for the cycle. The Sea Dogs had only two cycles in franchise history prior to the 2015 season. Margot became the first Sea Dog player ever to hit for the cycle at Hadlock Field.
Streaks
•   Marco Hernandez, Tim Roberson, and Sam Travis each posted a team-high 13-game hit streak.
•   Carlos Asuaje reached base in a team-high 29 consecutive games from April 19 - May 22. The streak was the third-longest in the Eastern League this season and eighth-longest in Sea Dogs franchise history.

-Mike Brenly accepted the assistant bullpen catcher position with the Boston Red Sox in May.

Other Notes:
•   The Sea Dogs had eight walk-off wins in 2015, including a stretch of six consecutive home wins won via walk-off from June 29 - July 23. From May 25th to July 30th, eight of 12 home wins for the Sea Dogs came on walk-offs. Aneury Tavarez's walk-off home run on July 30th was the only walk-off homer of the year for Portland and their first since July 2, 2013 (Travis Shaw).
•   The Sullivan Tire All-Star Classic was held at Hadlock Field on July 15th, with the Eastern Division defeating the West in the first ever Home Run Derby Shootout. With the game tied 4-4 after nine innings of play, the two teams faced off in a Home Run Derby Shootout to decide the winner, per Eastern League rules. Brian Pointer of the Reading Fightin Phils homered into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in the ninth round to give the East the walk-off victory. Sea Dogs' shortstop Marco Hernandez earned the MiLB.com Top Star Award, while Altoona infielder Dan Gamache won the Electricity Maine Home Run Derby prior to the game. A sellout crowd of 7,368 attended.
