Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 2016 season schedule announced
KEIZER, Ore. - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, in conjunction with the Northwest League of Professional Baseball, announced the 2016 regular season schedule Friday.
The upcoming campaign is the 20th season of Volcanoes Baseball in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Stay tuned for special announcements and messages about unique plans for fans and media around the area.
Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer, Oregon will host 38 regular season games, beginning with the home opener against rival Hillsboro on Friday, June 17. Salem-Keizer will play host to the College All-Stars in a preseason game the day prior on Thursday, June 16.
The first weekend series also sees the Volcanoes play the Hops, two-time defending Northwest League Champions, on Fathers Day, Sunday, June 19. Salem-Keizer returns home for a five-game series with the Tri-City Dust Devils the next weekend Thursday, June 23 through Monday, June 27.
The Volcanoes also play at home on several other holiday dates next summer, headlined by July 4th featuring the 9th Annual Patriotic Tribute at Volcanoes Stadium. This annual community tradition has grown in impact and popularity, and will featuring a Fantastic Fireworks Show after the game. The 2016 Patriotic Tribute will Thank, Honor and Salute the Oregon National Guard.
Volcanoes Stadium plays host to the 4th Annual Futures game on Sunday, July 3rd, featuring 38 of Oregon's top baseball prospects.
Schedule notes:
- Salem-Keizer will play seven Friday night home games along with six Saturday contests.
- Eight of the first 11 games of the season are played in Keizer
- The Northwest League-Pioneer League All-Star game will be played in Ogden, Utah at Lindquist Field, home of the Ogden Raptors, Rookie-League affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2015, Spokane hosted the 1st Annual Northwest League-Pioneer League All-Star game.
- The Volcanoes will make three separate North Division five-game road trips in a span of 22 days from August 12 to September 2.
