Timber Rattlers grow 300 pounds of food in GreenStone Farm Credit Services Garden
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The staff of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - with some help from friends - grew 300 pounds of vegetables in the GreenStone Farm Credit Services Ballpark Garden this year. All food was donated to St. Joseph's Food Program.
"For the second year in a row, the GreenStone Garden has provided fresh, healthy food options to local families in need. Freedom High School FFA students helped maintain the garden again this summer," said Amanda Kroll, GreenStone Financial Services Officer. "The garden not only fed hungry families, but also gave our youth the opportunity to learn more about agriculture and grow their leadership skills. It was a great team effort."
Produce grown in the garden this season included tomatoes, potatoes, onions, cucumbers, cantaloupes, green peppers, and various other fruits and vegetables.
"We are proud to once again partner with GreenStone Farm Credit Services and the St. Joseph Food Program to provide fruits and vegetables to those in need," said Jerrad Radocay, Corporate Marketing Manager for the Timber Rattlers. "The garden expansion this past off-season, combined with optimal growing and harvesting conditions, allowed us to nearly double the amount of donated produce from last year."
The GreenStone Farm Credit Services Ballpark Garden added 300 square feet this past season to reach an area of 900 square feet. The garden is located beyond the left field berm at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
