2011 GWINNETT BRAVES TRAINEE PROGRAM


The Gwinnett Braves Trainee Program is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in professional sports. This program not only provides trainees with a valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional baseball club, but it also gives trainees the opportunity to build a network in the sports industry. Trainee positions pay an hourly rate and are not subject to health benefits or paid time off. Term: January - End of Season.

The Gwinnett Braves also offer two internship positions for college credit only. These positions are intended for college students who seek credit as part of their curriculum. These position typically report on gamedays only and are not subject to monetary compensation, health benefits or paid time off. Term: April - End of Season.



Stadium Operations Trainee

The Stadium Operations Trainee assists in general facility operations and event management. The Stadium Operations Trainee reports directly to the Stadium Operations Manager and Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
1. Directly responsible for over 100 events each year
2. Game management and implementing event itineraries
3. Overseeing a parking staff of 20 and implementing Game Day Parking procedures
4. Supervising daily operations and maintenance of a 10,000 seat ballpark
5. Developing annual budget and capital expense requests
6. Hiring/Supervising 100 seasonal employees
7. Reporting all payroll and related personnel paperwork to the Atlanta Braves
8. Purchasing materials relevant to the maintenance of the ballpark
9. Maintaining sales accounts with stadium related vendors
10. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager concerning ballpark improvements, expenses, stadium incidents, employees, and special events

Corporate Sales Trainee

The Corporate Sales Trainee will assist the Corporate and Group Sales Manager in all aspects of the department. The Corporate Sales Trainee must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and eager to build and manage relationships. Potential candidates must be willing to work through tasks and get the job done in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
1. Conducting background research on prospective sponsors
2. Drafting Power Point sales proposals
3. Maintaining corporate inventory logs
4. Maintaining reports for each sponsor detailing all partner elements and activation programs included in sponsorship agreements
5. Assisting with pre-game ceremonies
6. Facilitating gate giveaways
7. Supervising sponsor concourse activation
8. Helping the Promotions Department with on-field promotions as needed

Ticket Sales Trainee

Ticket Sales Trainees will report to the Corporate and Group Sales Manager and will assist in generating package and group ticket sales. Candidate must have excellent customer service and be able to keep records and monetary transactions. Ticket Sales Trainees should have excellent people skills, time management and be highly organized. Trainees must also be prepared to work long hours and maintain a professional attitude.

Responsibilities:
1. Generate package and group ticket sales
2. Cold call perspective customers in order to meet monthly sales goals and generate group nights at the ballpark
3. Give ballpark tours to potential groups and maintain relationships with past groups to solicit feedback, as well as be responsible for new package sales
4. Greeting groups and helping group leaders distribute information to guests
5. Work the Group and Ticket Sales table (answer questions, customer service)
6. Supervise designated picnic areas
7. Routinely check in with groups and take photographs

Ticket Operations Trainee

The Ticket Operations Trainee will assist the Ticket Manager in all aspects of ticket department.

Responsibilities:
1. Managing daily activities in the Box Office
2. Processing phone and walk-up ticket orders using Architics Ticketing System (Ticketmaster)
3. Managing Box Office during games, including supervising game day ticket sellers and addressing any customer service issues that may arise
4. Balancing money drawers and preparing cash deposits at conclusion of each work day
5. Providing excellent customer service to all customers
6. Assisting with distribution of season tickets and parking passes
7. Servicing season ticket accounts and facilitating season ticket exchanges
8. Generating season ticket and partial ticket plan sales
9. Assisting with mascot appearances around the Gwinnett area, including wearing the mascot suit at times
10. Assisting with tarp pulls when weather requires the field to be covered
11. Assist in all other areas as needed, including providing support for special events run by other departments

Community and Promotions Trainee

The Community and Promotions Trainee will assist the Marketing and Promotions Manager as well as the Community and Public Affairs Manager in various aspects of the departments. These aspects include but are not limited to graphic design, scheduling community appearances, developing theme nights, as well as assisting with the Gwinnett Braves Kids Club, the Braves Foundation and special events. This job requires strong creativity and event management skills. In season responsibilities include assisting with on-field promotions/ ceremonies, fundraisers, in-game contests and managing the Kids Club.

Requirements:
1. College student or recent graduate working toward/possessing a degree in Sports Management, Communications, Graphic Design or in a related field
2. Ability to design and execute community theme nights, special events or programs
3. Experience in graphic design (Photoshop CS4, Illustrator or related program)
4. Knowledge of or willingness to learn Internet production (HTML, Java) and video production (Premiere Pro or related program)
5. Ability to learn multiple computer programs quickly
6. Detail-oriented, organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills
7. Ability to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
8. Flexible schedule: available January - September; able to work nights and weekends on non-game days as needed

Responsibilities:
1. Aid the Community Affairs Manager in the following: Braves Foundation events and fundraisers, community events, Kids Club, clinics, and other Gwinnett Braves community programs and initiatives
2. Aid the Marketing and Promotions Manager in developing and executing theme nights and special events for Gwinnett Braves games that will attract regional attention and increase attendance
3. Assist selling, filling and organizing gameday fundraisers (ticket fundraisers, 50/50 Raffle, etc.)
4. Assist in the execution of on-field activities both pre-game and in-game
5. Schedule community mascot appearances
6. Execute the marketing efforts of the team through pocket schedule distribution, ad design, and other grassroots efforts
7. Collect and fulfill donation requests
8. Help maintain the Gwinnett Braves website
9. Write community stories for the newsletter, magazine, program and Web site
10. Updating rosters/stats, creating headshots for teams to be used on video board
11. Help other departments with their graphic design needs
12. Fulfills other production and marketing responsibilities as assigned by the Promotions and Entertainment Coordinator, other Department Managers, or General Manager

Public Affairs-Baseball Information Trainee

The Public Affairs-Baseball Information Trainee will assist the Public Affairs Manager and Media and Public Relations Coordinator in all aspects of the public affairs department including but not limited to; creating and editing media guides and publications, writing game notes and post-game stories, recording and updating statistical records as well as management of the press box and media requests.

Requirements:
1. College student or recent graduate working toward/possessing a degree in Sports Management, Public Relations, Communications or related field
2. Detail-oriented, organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills
3. Ability to multi-task and work with strict deadlines
4. Very experienced with baseball rules and scoring
5. Experience with graphic design (Photoshop CS3, Illustrator, InDesign)
6. Ability to learn multiple computer programs quickly
7. TV production knowledge a plus
8. Flexible schedule: available January - September; able to work nights and weekends on non-game days as needed

Responsibilities:
1. Collect, copy and distribute press "clippings" to entire front office
2. Create and update statistical records for media distribution
3. Write pre-game notes and post-game stories
4. Write and edit publications including media guide, magazines and gameday guides
5. Produce scorecards and statistical inserts for fans
6. Assist with media requests including credential and player requests
7. Press box hospitality
8. Fulfills other responsibilities as assigned by the Community and Public Affairs Manager, Media and Public Relations Coordinator, other Department Managers, or General Manager

Photography Intern

Internship description:
The Gwinnett Braves, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, is seeking an intern interested in a career in photojournalism.

The intern will be responsible for photographing game action, on-field entertainment acts, fan & mascot interaction, assorted events held at the ballpark and other activities on or outside of game days as assigned by the team's sponsor services, ticketing and media relations departments. The intern may also be asked to work off a nightly shot list in order to obtain photographs of specific areas of the ballpark, signage or sponsor promotions.

A functional knowledge of baseball is required of all candidates interested in the position. The intern must also provide his or her own photography equipment capable of securing high-resolution images.

The photography internship may be taken for course credit depending on the parameters set forth by the respective student's college or university.

Specific starting, finishing and in-season dates can be negotiated between the team and the candidate, though the bulk of the internship is structured around the International League season, which runs from the second week of April through mid-September.

During the season, hours will vary from week to week in accordance with the team's home schedule and can be flexible to work around the candidate's schedule and availability. Qualified candidates should expect to work an average of 10-20 hours each week in-season.

Promotions Intern

Internship description:
The Gwinnett Braves are seeking several current college students to be a part of their promotions and entertainment during the 2011 season! The Gwinnett Braves are proud to offer a unique program where student interns will have the ability to learm - hands-on - how live sports and entertainment production is researched, planned and executed. Team interns also have the rare opportunity to plan and execute their own promotion at a home game late in the season. Interns will have the invaluable opportunity to gain crucial experience as well as develop a network within the industry. Interns will be eligible to receive internship credit and must be approved through their college to receive such credit.

The Gwinnett Braves internship program runs from April until the end of the season in August. Interns are asked to participate in all home games unless school obligations prevent such requirements.

Interns typically arrive on gamedays, participate in meetings and assist with the promotions before, during and after each game. A typical gameday will consist of 6-7 hours of participation, with the interns arriving approximately 3 hours until first pitch, and leaving when the game ends. Interns will participate in production meetings, breakout sessions and game prep before assisting with pre-game ceremonies, in-game promotions, and post-game festivities. The interns will also schedule 5 games which he or she will report early for office hours.

Special Projects:
The promotion interns will work together to plan a theme night at Coolray Field. This night will be scheduled late in the season, where the team will be given a small budget and asked to research, plan, sell, and execute the night. The team will work together with full time staff members to brainstorm ideas and will be given deadlines to show proof of progress with their project.
