Vote Pensacola to the Pro Bowl
Pensacola is home to many talented professional athletes and this year, four local athletes are on the ballot for the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl. G Josh Sitton, WR Doug Baldwin, K Graham Gano and RB Alfred Morris. Check out some of the reasons why you should vote Pensacola to the Pro Bowl.
G Josh Sitton, a two-time Pro Bowl Selection, is in his eighth season with the Green Bay Packers. This season the Catholic grad has started all nine games for the Packers and is an undisputable leader in the locker room. He took the field for all 87 offensive plays against the Lions on Sunday. This season, Aaron Rodgers is first in touchdown percentage at home while being guarded by Sitton. Rodgers is also top five in passer rating at home, passing TDs at home and 25-yard passes at home this season. Sitton has also been a longtime supporter of the Blue Wahoos and most recently threw out a first pitch in 2015. During the offseason, he and his fellow offensive lineman also showed off some dance moves in Pitch Perfect 2. So let's be honest, anyone with dance moves like that should be in the Pro Bowl. Catch the trailer here.
WR Doug Baldwin, who became a Super Bowl Champion with the Seattle Seahawks during the 2013 season, played at Gulf Breeze. Baldwin had one of his best games of the season against Arizona with seven catches for 134 yards and one touchdown, just shy of career highs. In nine games this season, he has posted 479 yards on 38 receptions. This season, he is only 12 yards behind Jimmy Graham from leading the Seahawks. Rumor on the street is that Doug Baldwin and Kazoo are pretty good friends. Check out photos from when Baldwin threw out a first pitch during our first season.
K Graham Gano, who joined the Carolina Panthers in 2012, played locally at Tate. This season he is 18-22 in field goals for 81.8% with a long of 52. The 52-yarder came against the Indianapolis Colts in overtime earlier this month to help improve the Panthers to a franchise best 7-0 start. The Panthers are now 9-0. In wake to the extra point being moved back this season, he has only missed two extra points. In 2013, Gano threw out a first pitch at Blue Wahoos Stadium with his son, check out pictures from that moment here.
RB Alfred Morris, who played at Pine Forest, is leading the Washington Redskins in rushing this season with 404 yards on 110 attempts. Although he suffered a rib injury in last week's win against the Saints, he was able to make a major impact on the game by rushing 15 times for 92 yards and catching all three passes for 14 yards. Morris was named to the Pro Bowl Team in 2014 and 2015. Read about how Alfred Morris waited to play a key role for the Redskins here.
CB Damarious Randall was snubbed. This season, the rookie from Pensacola High has already posted 35 tackles in nine games for the Green Bay Packers with 23 coming in the past four games. Although the Packers fell to the Lions this week, he made a huge play by stealing the onside kick from Calvin Johnson to give the Packers a chance to win the game. Did we mention he has also picked Peyton Manning and Cam Newton this year? He also is fourth amongst defensive back rookies in tackles. Damarious Randall might not be on the Pro Bowl Ballot this year, but watch out next season. Check out that onside kick here. The Blue Wahoos also hosted his NFL Draft Party in May.
Voting ends December 15, so vote here!
