WNDE New Radio Home of Indians
"We are pleased to have Indianapolis Indians games broadcast on WNDE beginning next season" said Bruce Schumacher, Director of Special Projects for the Indianapolis Indians. "I appreciate the enthusiasm Rick Green and his team have for Indians Baseball. We feel WNDE along with cross promotional support from its sister stations Q-95 and X-103 will help increase the audience for the Indianapolis Indians both on the radio and at Victory Field."
1260 WNDE is currently affiliated with Fox Sports Radio Network and broadcasts Westwood One's NFL Football coverage. In addition to carrying the Indianapolis Indians, 1260 WNDE currently features such shows as Mark Patrick on Sports, Dan Patrick, Jim Rome, Tony Bruno and mornings with Zakk & Jack.
"WNDE is excited to partner with one of the most successful minor league clubs in baseball" said Rick Green, Vice President / Market Manager for Clear Channel Indianapolis. "Clear Channel Radio has been a promotional partner with the Indians at many Victory Field events over the years. This broadcast agreement completes that relationship."
Howard Kellman, who enters his 36th season as "Voice of the Tribe", and Scott McCauley, who is in his sixth season on the radio for the Indians will continue to call the action as the Tribe move to their new radio home.
Kellman was inducted into the Indiana Sports Writers & Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame in 2009 and reached a historic milestone during the 2010 season when he broadcast his 5000th Indianapolis Indians game on June 4. McCauley writes the official Indians blog, "Is This Thing On?" at http://indyindians.mlblogs.com and is also the current voice of IUPUI Men's Basketball.
Indianapolis' 2011 regular season slate begins on Thursday, April 7 at 7:05 p.m. when the Tribe takes on the Columbus Clippers to kick off the Indians' season-opening nine-game homestand at Victory Field.
