Tribe Resigns Adam Moore and Michael Martinez, Adds OF Shane Robinson

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster transactions:

 

Signed free agent OF SHANE ROBINSON and C ADAM MOORE to Minor League contracts with non-roster invitations to Major League camp.

 

Robinson, 31, spent his first full season in the Major Leagues with the Minnesota Twins in 2015, batting .250 (45-180) with 7 doubles, 3 triples and 16 RBI in 83 games. He collected single-season career-highs in hits, runs (28) and triples and appeared in 55 games in left field, 15 games in center field and 12 games in right. He began his professional career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2006 after his fifth round selection in the June draft out of Florida State. He appeared in 268 regular season games and 18 postseason contests with the Cardinals from 2009-14 before signing with the Twins last December.

 

Moore, 31, begins his second stint in the Indians organization after spending the entire 2015 season at Triple-A Columbus, batting .282 (93-330) with 20 doubles, 6 home runs and 44 RBI in 92 games for the International League champs. The Royse City, TX native batted .421 (16-38) in the Triple-A playoffs with 2 2B, 3 HR & 10 RBI in 10 games and over his last 44 regular season games at Triple-A he batted .323 (53-164). He appeared in one game for the Indians (Sept. 30) after his September 23 promotion from Columbus. 

 

The Indians announced Monday the club has signed free agent INF MICHAEL MARTINEZ to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League camp in February.

 

Martinez, 33, spent most of the 2015 season in AAA Columbus, batting .289 (105-363) with 24 doubles, 5 triples, 5 home runs, 42 RBI and 53 runs scored (.344/.424/.768) in 102 games after signing with the club on February 11th. At the time of his Sept. 4 promotion to Cleveland, Michael ranked 11th in the International League in batting average, the 5th-highest mark in the Indians Player Development System while making starts at 5 different positions. During his September stint in Cleveland, he made 7 starts in the outfield and hit .267 (8-30) with 7 runs scored in 16 games
