Hawks' Owner part of Rangers' Ownership Group as Well
Leibman is passionate about baseball and has always expressed an interest in owning a part of a Major League Baseball team. The former lawyer and Houston businessman now has his chance, and is part of an 18-member ownership group of the Texas Rangers. The group is headlined by former Major League Baseball pitcher and current part-owner and team president of the Texas Rangers; Nolan Ryan. The 18-member ownership group bid more than $590 million and won at auction in August, after former owner Tom Hicks and the Rangers ran into financial trouble back in May when the team filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Currently, Leibman is the Chairman and CEO of Aspen Pipeline LP, an investment banker backed limited partnership, which owns and operates gas gathering systems and transportation pipelines. Leibman and his wife Amy live in Houston Texas with their three children.
Game 1 of the Texas Rangers against the San Francisco Giants is tonight at 5:30 p.m. and will be televised live on Fox.
