Yankees acquire Cessa, Green from Tigers
Rumors swirled around Yankees closer Andrew Miller throughout the day, but it was another New York reliever who was traded Wednesday evening.
Justin Wilson, who had a 3.10 ERA over 74 big league appearances in 2015, is going to Detroit, and right-handed pitching prospects Luis Cessa and Chad Green are headed to the Bronx, the Tigers announced over Twitter.

Cessa was a key part of the Tigers' return from the Mets for Yoenis Cespedes at the trade deadline. Having aced his first stint of more than one start at Double-A ball by the end of June (7-4 with 61 strikeouts, 27 walks and a 2.56 ERA over 13 starts), The 23-year-old struggled to an 0-3 record and 8.51 ERA in five starts for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s before the trade made him Detroit's No. 6 prospect. He rebounded slightly over seven starts with Triple-A Toledo, going 1-3 with a 5.97 ERA.
"The goal is to finish a level above the one where I started, so my goal for this year is to get to Triple-A, or in the bigger picture, the Major Leagues," he told MiLB.com after an outstanding start in April.
From the state of Veracruz in Mexico, Cessa features a three-pitch mix (fastball, changeup, curveball) and can reach 95 mph with his heater, which rates a 60 on the 20-80 scouting scale. This was his fifth season as a pro, and he sports a career ERA of 3.68 and 1.24 WHIP over 513 2/3 innings.
Green, 24, was an 11th-round pick of Detroit in the 2013 Draft, and he finished this season ranked 19th in the organization. He tallied a career-high 27 starts and 148 2/3 innings while spending the whole season with Double-A Erie. Over three pro seasons, he's amassed 278 strikeouts while issuing free passes to just 77 over 299 1/3 innings.
The University of Louisville product works with a fastball, a slider and a changeup, and as evidenced by his low walk totals, has strong command, particularly with his low-90s fastball.
Wilson came up in the Pirates system and has three full big league seasons under his belt. Over that time, he's amassed a 14-5 record and a 3.03 ERA while logging 199 1/3 innings over 210 relief appearances. Major League hitters have batted .218 against him.
