Baseball America Prospect List Filled With Keys

Six Ex-Frederick Players Included Among Orioles Top 10
December 15, 2015

FREDERICK, Md. - On Monday, Baseball America released its list of top 10 Orioles prospects and the Frederick Keys were well represented. Six of those included once suited up for the orange and black, while several others could see time at Nymeo Field in 2016.

For the fifth consecutive year, Dylan Bundy ranked as the Orioles No. 1 prospect. Limited to eight starts for the Double-A Bowie Baysox due to right shoulder calcifications, Bundy went 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA. After being shut down for the duration of the season in June, he reported to the Arizona Fall League, but only made two starts due to elbow stiffness. A member of the Keys in 2012 and 2014, Bundy went 7-5 with a 3.46 ERA in 18 games.

Besides Bundy, former Frederick players Chance Sisco (No. 3), Mychal Givens (No. 5), Chris Lee (No. 6), Trey Mancini (No. 8) and Mike Wright (No. 10) made the top 10. Only 20 years old, Sisco hit .308 with Frederick in 75 games before a Double-A promotion in mid-August. He finished his season with an appearance in the Arizona Fall League.

Meanwhile, Sisco's fellow Keys teammates, Lee and Mancini, also joined him at Bowie. The Orioles minor league Player of the Year, Mancini won the Eastern League batting title after a June call-up from Frederick. Lee also enjoyed a breakout campaign, tallying a 3.29 ERA in 28 combined starts over three levels. Opening the year with the Astros Low-A affiliate in Quad Cities, Lee was traded to the Orioles for two international bonus slots in May.

Givens and Wright received their first big league promotions in 2015, after several minor league seasons. A reliever for Frederick in 2014, Givens was the organization's co-minor league Pitcher of the Year after going 4-2 with a 1.73 ERA and 15 saves for Bowie. Those results carried over to the Orioles, where he finished 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 22 games. A 2012 Frederick alum, Wright split time between Baltimore and Triple-A Norfolk. Making his MLB debut on May 17, Wright opened his big league career with 14.1 scoreless innings and became just the third starter to begin his Orioles tenure with consecutive scoreless starts.

Rounding out the top 10 list were Hunter Harvey (No. 2), Jomar Reyes (No. 4), Ryan Mountcastle (No. 7) and DJ Stewart (No. 9). Harvey and Reyes are projected as candidates to play for the Keys in 2016.

The Frederick Keys kickoff their 2016 season on Thursday, April 7 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on the Grand Strand, while the home opener is scheduled for one week later on April 14 at 7:00 p.m against Lynchburg. Ticket plans for 2016 are already on sale, while all plan holders will receive a Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop double bobblehead.
