December 16, 2015

With yet another multi-hit effort on Tuesday evening, 2015 Storm Chasers outfielder Reymond Fuentes extended his Puerto Rico Winter League-best hit streak to 16 games, which is also the longest active hit stretch of any Caribbean winter league.

During his hot streak, the 24-year-old has recorded a .349 batting average (22-63), adding 12 runs, two doubles, two triples and three RBI, as well as five walks and a .408 on-base percentage. Since the streak began on November 17, Fuentes ranks second in the PWL in average and OBP, tied for second in runs and tied for fourth in hits and total bases (28). The outfielder has also recorded six multi-hit efforts during his streak, including each of his last two outings.

Overall this season in 23 games for Cangrejeros de Santurce, the left-handed slugger has accumulated a .341 clip (31-91) along with 15 runs, two doubles, two triples, one homer and eight RBI. Fuentes has also recorded at least one base knock in all but two of those contests during winter league play. His team currently ranks third in the PWL with a 13-18 overall mark, ranking 7.5 games behind Indios de Mayaguez for the top spot.

This past season, Fuentes played in 107 games with the Storm Chasers, tallying a .308 average (122-396) with 70 runs, ten doubles, four triples, nine homers and 46 RBI, along with 29 steals. His longest hit streak with Omaha in 2015 was an eight-game stretch between July 16-23. Among all Storm Chasers hitters, the outfielder ranked second in runs scored and triples, in addition to third in hits.

Fellow 2015 Storm Chaser Jose Martinez continues to play well in the Venezuelan Winter League, having compiled a .325 average (68-209) with 31 runs, 15 doubles, four triples, three homers and 31 RBI through 54 games. Martinez enters Wednesday's play ranked first in the VWL in doubles (15), total bases (100) and extra-base hits (22), second in hits (68), tied for second in triples (four), tied for third in runs (31), tied for fourth in RBI (31) and tied for eighth in batting average for Tiburones de La Guaira.

The infielder has enjoyed a strong 2015 year at the plate, including a record-breaking season with Omaha. Martinez's .384 batting average (131-341) set a modern-day Pacific Coast League record while winning the circuit's batting title, adding 57 runs, 25 doubles, three triples, ten homers and 60 RBI in 98 contests.
