Captains Unveil New Uniforms
"The 2007 Captains uniforms represent a fresh, updated look for our players on the field. I know our fans will enjoy the new uniforms as well, and I look forward to hearing their continual feedback all season, not just about the uniforms, but about the Captains operation overall," stated Captains General Manager Kevin Brodzinski.
The home jersey will have the most subtle changes of all the jerseys. There are some slight changes to the home uniform, the most obvious being the shift away from the color red. The original intent of the organization was to maintain the colors navy blue and old gold, which reflects what was done for 2007.
The road uniform reflects a move toward a more traditional style. "The new road jersey is really a combination of two Cleveland Indians jerseys from years ago. The Tribe players had a home white pinstriped jersey with Indians across the chest in the 1950's, and then later in the 1960's wore a gray vest with a red t-shirt underneath. As an affiliate of the Indians, it was important for me to make a historical connection between our Captains players and their hopes to be Major League Baseball players in the future," Brodzinski noted.
The batting practice jersey has changed style and color and has gone from a pull over top to a front button style jersey. "The BP jersey is probably the least viewed by the public, but I expect the team to wear it occasionally for home games this season. The color scheme represents something unique across all of Minor League Baseball--the colors and font are specific to the Captains," Brodzinski added.
The Lake County Captains are the Class A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and play their home games at Classic Park in Eastlake at the corners of State Route 91 and Vine Street. The Captains will play their home opener on Friday, April 13th at 7:05 p.m. against the Lexington Legends.
