November 4, 2010
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- David Nunes, who has more than 25 years of experience in facility and property management, has joined the Minor League Baseball staff as Senior Vice President, Finance. Nunes spent the last decade working as the Vice President of Finance & Administration for Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens.

"I am thrilled to be back in baseball," Nunes, who worked as an Accounting Manager with the Florida Marlins from 1992-95, said. "I look forward to working with the staff, our league presidents and clubs in maintaining the popularity and affordability of Minor League Baseball."

Nunes is filling the position being vacated by Jonathan Shipman, who has decided to obtain a Ph.D in accounting and then become a college professor.

"We feel very fortunate to have a person of David Nunes' qualifications join our staff," Minor League Baseball President Pat O'Conner said. "I look forward to having David participate with our senior management team as we continue to strengthen the Minor League Baseball brand and operations in St. Petersburg, Vero Beach and Durham. His broad base of experience with teams, facilities and special events will be an invaluable asset to our organization."

Nunes, a native of Providence, R.I., who grew up in Hartford, Conn., has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting & Finance from the University of Connecticut and a MBA from Regus University in Washington, D.C.

Shipman, who will remain with MiLB through the end of the year, joined the MiLB staff in May 2006 as Assistant Director, Business & Finance. He was named as Director of Accounting in January 2008.
