May, Jr. named B-Tribe manager
The Indians named Lee May, Jr. as the new manager for the Burlington Indians. May, Jr. replaces Sean McNally who took the head coaching job with the Duke University baseball team.
Lee May, Jr. will begin his first managerial position on Sunday, July 17th. He was recently promoted from the hitting coach position with the Kinston Indians. Prior to the Kinston position, May, Jr. was a tutor for the Burlington Indians last season.
Originally a first round selection (21st overall) by the New York Mets in the 1986 draft, May, Jr. played professionally in the Mets and Kansas City Royals organizations from 1986-1993. In eight minor league seasons, he had a career average of .221 with 8 HR and 166 RBI in 621 games. He also coached in Kingsport and Capital City while also serving as scouting supervisor for New York for three seasons, covering Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.
