E Twins Sponsors/Local Businesses Continue to Receive Calls from Agency
The phone calls continue to local Elizabethton Twins sponsors and local business owners from an agency known as Kornerstone Marketing. The marketing firm has made a decision to seek advertising revenue within our area that they say is associated with the sponsorship of an Elizabethton Twins Baseball Schedule for 2016. This attempt to solicit funds for this particular schedule has in no way been approved by our Minor League Baseball Team.
"To say that we were a little surprised at this attempt to gain advertising sponsorship revenue in our own backyard would be an understatement said Elizabethton Twins General Manager Mike Mains. Since 1974 we have built a great fan base, won many championships, served our community and we have raised thousands of dollars for non-profits. I can see how those outside this area would like to tap into our success but I don't think this is an appropriate way to successfully do business."
Elizabethton Twins Baseball works annually with more than 100 local advertising sponsors. It is a very unique professional baseball team as it is operated by the City of Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department. That being the case the team and cities overall mission is to provide an inexpensive form of family entertainment for our community. This being a primary goal our admission rates, concession prices, fair advertising rates and several free admission nights throughout a season provide a wonderful opportunity for family entertainment and for local business exposure.
"We've had a great run since 1974 and hopefully it will continue for years to come, said Mains. We've had 118 former E-Twins Baseball players walk out the gates of Joe O'Brien Field that have ended up in the Major Leagues. That's something to be proud of. We work with dozens of non-profit organizations assisting them with fundraising events and we provide a great place for families to come and enjoy time together. The one thing that keeps this success going are the local businesses that provide advertising revenue to support such activities as our free youth baseball clinics, free admission nights, summer youth field trips to Joe O'Brien Field, promotional nights and many more family oriented events. We simply could not do it without the support from our local sponsors and are extremely proud of the trust we have built with them through the years."
The fact is Minor League Baseball, the Appalachian League and the Elizabethton Twins have a tremendous amount to offer. "This game is a great asset to our local communities, said Mains. It's a win both off and on the field for our fans and area businesses as it provides tremendous exposure and recreational benefits for our communities. Unfortunately we must be aware that although we may be operating as a total team locally made up of our fans, players, staff and business sponsors alike there are those out there looking to find personally gain from the great success we have seen."
