November 9th, 2010

Springfield, MO - The Springfield Cardinals are excited to announce that the St. Louis Cardinals will play an exhibition game against their Double-A Affiliate at Hammons Field prior to the beginning of the 2011 regular season.

"Having a chance to play host to the St. Louis Cardinals here in Springfield is such an honor," said Springfield Cardinals Vice President/General Manager, Matt Gifford. "Not only is it a special treat for our fans to see the likes of Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, Adam Wainwright and all the great Cardinals players up close, but it'll also be a heartfelt homecoming for the guys like Jaime Garcia, Colby Rasmus, Jon Jay and the others to come back and see the fans that have supported them on their journey to the big leagues."

"We're very excited to play down here," said St. Louis Cardinals Vice President/General Manager, John Mozeliak. "Our affiliation with Springfield, with the town and community is important and we want to continue to build that relationship. We've always had great fan support here and it is a tremendous opportunity to the fans in Springfield to see our major league players."

The Cardinals/Cardinals game will take place Tuesday, March 29th at 7:07pm. Different from years past, St. Louis will only be playing one game against Springfield, so the ticket demand to this game will unprecedented. The best way to guarantee a ticket to the exhibition game is to become a season ticket holder, so we encourage fans to act quickly while tickets are still available.

STADIUM SEATING SIMPLIFIED; PRICE REDUCTION IN KEY AREAS

The Springfield Cardinals have simplified their seating arrangement for fan convenience. Based on past experiences and fan feedback, the Cardinals have reconfigured some seating categories including a significant price reduction in some key areas around Hammons Field.

The Diamond Boxes have been expanded to include all of Sections G, H, I, Sections F, J rows 1-5 and Sections D, E, K, L rows 4-5 with a significant decrease in price. The Dugout Boxes have been shifted to include Sections D, E, F, J, K, L rows 6-25. The Field Boxes, formerly known as the Outfield Boxes, have also been enlarged to include the first three rows of sections A through C and sections M and N with another decrease in price for the first three rows.

For example, the highest ticket price in the lower seating bowl in 2010 was $20. In 2011, the highest ticket price will only be $15. To provide Springfield Cardinals fans the best value for their loyalty, 88% of all seats have stayed the same or have gone down in price.

"The Cardinals owe it to our fans to have the most affordable, family friendly facility in Springfield," said Gifford. "We're lucky to have the best fans and hope they continue to "Escape to Cardinals Baseball" again in 2011."
