Three former Osprey now in AFL
Right-handed pitchers Daniel Stange and Bryan Shaw are both in the Scorpions bullpen, while Alan Zinter, who was the hitting coach for the Osprey during the 2008 season, is the team's hitting coach.
Stange, who was with the Osprey during their 2006 Pioneer League Championship season, made his Major-League debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks this past spring, and made four total appearances this past season. Stange also split time between Triple-A Reno and Double-A Mobile, collecting 15 total saves between the two minor-league stops.
Shaw pitched for the Osprey in 2008, and pitched the final two innings of the last Osprey-spun no-hitter, a 1-0 win in Helena on June 30, 2008. In seven appearances for the Scorpions, heading into Tuesday's action, Shaw has two saves and a 3.24 ERA in eight and a third innings pitched.
The Arizona Fall League, currently in its 19th season of play, consists of six all-star caliber teams each with five Major League organizations working cooperatively. Once again, the No. 1 pick in the MLB draft is also taking part in the AFL - Bryce Harper, who plays for Scottsdale, and entered Tuesday's game with a .348 batting average in six games, with a home run and four RBIs.
