Loons Front Office Adds Two to Nest
MIDLAND, MI - The Great Lakes Loons are pleased to announce two new staff additions for the 2011 Loons Baseball season. Both Marcelle Smith and Alex Wassel recently began working with the organization at their new full-time capacity.
Marcelle Smith, of Saginaw, joins the Great Lakes Loons front office as their Account Executive. Prior to accepting his role with the Loons, Smith served as a Procurement Specialist with Saginaw Future, Inc. He joined the Loons front office near the conclusion of the 2010 season, returning to the organization for which he once served as a Business Operations Intern. In his new role, Marcelle is responsible for selling a variety of ticket packages to local businesses and households.
Smith attended Florida A&M University to earn both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Business Administration. During his studies, he worked in the college's athletic department, where he possessed roles in basketball marketing and football ticket sales.
The Loons also welcome Alex Wassel, of Nashville, as their Communications Manager. Wassel served as the team's Communications/Media Relations Intern during the team's 2010 season and spent the season prior interning with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League. The Tennessee-native will assist in the organization's internal and external communications, while also contributing as the team's beat writer for Loons.com and ESPN1009.com.
Wassel attended the University of Tennessee from 2004-2008 and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Communications.
The Loons ticket staff is currently taking orders for full-season, mini, and group ticket-packages for the 2011 season, as well as the new six-game Red Wings Legends Series package.
