Grizzlies release statement on Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino reopening

Statement from Grizzlies Managing General Partner Chris Cummings
December 31, 2015

"The Fresno Grizzlies would like to warmly congratulate our friends at the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians on the occasion of the imminent reopening of the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. The unfortunate closure of the casino last year has had a significant economic and psychological impact on Madera County, the staff and families of the individuals employed at the facility and, most importantly, tribal members. The reopening is going to have a tremendous positive impact on the region."

"Triple-A Baseball in Fresno has been sustained through the Grizzlies' mutually-advantageous partnership with the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians. Throughout the period of closure, we have been assured by members of the Tribal Council as well as casino management that honoring the annual Naming Rights payment for Chukchansi Park, that was due in September 2015, was one of their top priorities and an important element in their reopening loan. Therefore, the reopening of the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino will be a welcome gift to all who are associated with the casino; the receipt of the Naming Rights payment will be icing on the cake for our baseball club."

"We are very excited to be on the brink of continuing the exceptional working relationship between the 2015 Triple-A Baseball National Championship Fresno Grizzlies and the premier resort/casino in the Central Valley, the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino!"
