Former Red Sox Catcher Rich Gedman to Attend Granite State Baseball Dinner, Presented by Northeast Delta Dental

November 14, 2010

Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, are pleased to announced that longtime Boston Red Sox catcher Rich Gedman has claimed a seat at the head table for the Granite State Baseball Dinner, presented by Northeast Delta Dental, scheduled for Saturday, November 20, at the Radisson Hotel Expo Center in downtown Manchester, NH. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), the Ted Williams Museum and the Fisher Cats Foundation.

Gedman, a catcher for 13 Major League seasons, played ten seasons for the Red Sox between 1980 and 1990 before spending time with the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals.  The Worcester, MA, native set the AL record for putouts by a catcher on April 29, 1986, when he caught Roger Clemens' Major League record 20 strikeout game against the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park.

Gedman was a two-time American League All-Star (1985-86), won the Sporting News Rookie of the Year Award in 1981, slammed a career-best 24 home runs in 1984 and followed that up with career highs in batting average (.295) and RBIs (80) in 1985.

Tickets to the dinner are $75 per person and include dinner, a silent auction and an autograph session with the night's special guests.  Fans can purchase tickets in person at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, by visiting www.nhfishercats.com or by calling the Fisher Cats Ticket Office at (603) 641-2005.  Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for the silent auction and autograph session, with dinner being served at 7:00 p.m.
