November 16, 2010
LAKEWOOD, NJ - BlueClaws Charities, the official non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws, announced that they will host a fundraising Polar Bear Plunge on March 5th in Seaside Heights.

The event will serve to benefit BlueClaws Charities, which contributes annually to more than 25 area non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, YMCA, Alzheimer's Association, ALS Association, Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve, and the Hot Wheels Fishing Team.

Prizes range from BlueClaws apparel to BlueClaws season tickets, and reservations are being accepted now.

Plungers that raise $100 will receive a BlueClaws Charities Polar Bear Plunge hooded sweatshirt plus two tickets to the BlueClaws game on Friday, April 8th, at which plungers will be recognized with a pre-game parade on the field.

With $250 raised, plungers will receive the above plus a BlueClaws Charities Polar Bear Plunge knit cap.

At $500, plungers receive the above plus a custom BlueClaws jersey.

Finally, with $1,000, plungers receive a pair of BlueClaws 2011 season tickets. This offer is valid only for the first 10 plungers, so plungers are encouraged to fundraise quickly!

The plunge will occur at 12 noon on March 5th. There will be a meeting point in Seaside Heights that will be announced at a later date. There will also be a partnering restaurant that provides food and drink specials for plungers.

"We're hoping we can generate a significant amount for our Community Partners," said BlueClaws Charities Executive Director Jim DeAngelis. "All the money goes right out to help the under-served in Ocean and Monmouth Counties and we're looking forward to March 5th."

BlueClaws Charities, the official non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws, donated over $160,000 to area non-profit organizations and fundraising events in 2010.
