Columbus Clippers & Cleveland Indians announce Clippers Coaching Staff

Majority of 2015 Championship staff returns, joined by new pitching coach

COLUMBUS, OH - The Cleveland Indians have announced the player development assignments for their Triple-A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers. Chris Tremie will return to the helm as Clippers manager and Rouglas Odor will reprise his role as the Clippers hitting coach. Steve Karsay will be the new pitching coach and returning to the Clippers staff are trainer Chad Wolfe and strength coach Ed Subel.

"We are extremely pleased to have Chris Tremie and most of the staff returning for the 8th season of Huntington Park." said Clippers President & General Manager, Ken Schnacke. "This will be Chris' 4th year as our field manager and he has done an outstanding job of both developing talent and teaching them how to win."

Chris Tremie returns for his fourth season as the Clippers manager. Tremie, 46, enters his 11th season in the Indians organization, all as a manager. He guided Double-A Akron to the Eastern League Championship in 2012 before joining the Clippers in 2013. Since taking the reins in Columbus, Tremie has led the Clippers to two play-off berths, two division championships and last year marched the club to an IL record-tying 10th Governors' Cup Championship. Tremie has an overall managerial record of 626-609 (233-199 with Columbus). 

Steve Karsay replaces Tony Arnold as pitching coach. Karsay, 43, joins the Clippers after serving as a pitching coach in the Indians organization for the last four years. Last year he lead the Lake County pitching staff, which finished with the 2nd most strikeouts in the Midwest League. Karsay, a former Clipper ('04), pitched 11 years in the Major Leagues for Oakland, Cleveland, Atlanta, New York (AL) and Texas. Karsay holds the unique distinction of have played with or for all 6 members of the tremendous 2014 Hall of Fame Class (teammate of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas and played for Tony La Russa, Bobby Cox and Joe Torre).

Rouglas Odor will return as hitting coach for a second season. Odor, 47, served as the hitting coach in Double-A Akron in 2014. He has spent 28 years in the Indians organization as a player, coach or manager. Odor was drafted by the Indians in the 32nd round of the 1988 amateur draft out of the University of New Orleans.

Chad Wolfe returns for his third season as the Clippers trainer, and Ed Subel returns as the strength & conditioning coach, a position he has held since 2012.
