Padres y Astros jugarán en la Cd. de México
México, D.F. (lmb.com.mx /Gabriel Medina) 13 de enero.- La mañana de este miércoles fue presentado el evento 'Mexico City Series', que consistirá en dos juegos de exhibición que protagonizarán los Astros de Houston y los Padres de San Diego, equipos de las Grandes Ligas, los días 26 y 27 de marzo, en el parque Fray Nano de la Ciudad de México, casa de los Diablos Rojos.
La venta de boletos iniciará el próximo 28 de enero, a través del sistema Ticketmaster.
En el evento estuvo presente la figura venezolana de los Astros de Houston, José Altuve, quien es el pelotero de menor estatura en la Gran Carpa y quien en 2014 fue Campeón de Bateo de la Liga Americana. Asimismo, por los Padres de San Diego asistieron el catcher Austin Hedges y el prospecto mexicano Luis Urías.
"Este es un evento de clase mundial para la familia del beisbol", mencionó el Dr. Miguel Ángel Mancera, Jefe de Gobierno de la Ciudad de México.
"Don Alfredo Harp es un motor muy importante del béisbol. En su caso, él tiene una vocación altruista por el deporte y ha sido un hombre clave en el proyecto de los gimnasios al aire libre, así como en la remodelación del estadio Fray Nano y en la construcción del gran estadio que la ciudad tendrá, porque la familia del beisbol se merece un gran lugar a dónde acudir a ver el rey de los deportes", subrayó Mancera Espinosa, quien no descartó que en un futuro se dé una serie de temporada regular de las Mayores en el nuevo parque de pelota, proyectado para abrir sus puertas en 2017.
El Mtro. Horacio de la Vega, Director del Indeporte de la Ciudad de México, destacó que la ciudad tendrá eventos de talla internacional en el año y agradeció al C.P. Harp Helú, Presidente del Consejo de Administración de los Diablos Rojos del México, el patrocinio de este evento ligamayorista, al igual que agradeció a Don Carlos Bremer, destacado empresario mexicano, su apoyo hacia el beisbol en el país y en particular en el D.F.
"Para la Conade es un privilegio participar en un evento relacionado con este deporte tan emblemático para nuestro país, el beisbol está resurgiendo y lo que buscamos es que los muchachos vean a sus ídolos y quieran ser como ellos el día de mañana", comentó, por su parte, el Lic. Alfredo Castillo, Director de la Comisión Nacional de Cultura Física y Deportes.
En tanto, Bremer dijo: "Quiero agradecerle al Jefe de Gobierno por este gran evento, ya son cerca de 10 o 15 años en que no venían equipos de Grandes Ligas a nuestro país. Me siento muy orgulloso por México y por la mancuerna del gobierno del DF y la Conade, pues esto da la posibilidad de que haya eventos como el que hoy anunciamos, además quiero agradecer enormemente el apoyo a Alfredo Harp, sin duda, el impulsor número uno del beisbol en México".
Jeff Luhnow, Gerente General de los Astros de Houston, y quien es oriundo de la Ciudad de México, se comprometió a fortalecer todavía más los lazos de dicha organización con nuestro país y también se dijo emocionado porque en un futuro haya una serie de temporada regular de las Mayores en suelo mexicano.
En el evento también estuvo A.J. Preller, Gerente General de los Padres de San Diego, equipo del cual el C.P. Alfredo Harp es accionista, quien se mostró emocionado por esta experiencia y quien subrayó que los Padres fueron el primer equipo de las Mayores en sostener un juego de temporada regular en México (1996).
En la conferencia de prensa también estuvieron presentes niños de diferentes ligas infantiles de la capital como: Liga Anáhuac, Maya, Olmeca, Petrolera, Lindavista, entre otras, así como 'Orbit' y 'The Swinging Friar", mascotas de Houston y San Diego, respectivamente.
