Keys to Participate in Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics

10 Staff Members to Take Place in January 30 Event
January 13, 2016

FREDERICK, Md. - On January 30, Frederick Keys staff members will be participating in the 20th annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge. Taking place at Sandy Point State Park, the event raises funds for Special Olympics Maryland, the state's largest year-round organization devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Beginning at 2 p.m, 10 Keys staffers will plunge into the frozen waters of the Chesapeake Bay. To prepare for the day, each participant is raising funds for the Special Olympics, while the Keys will match any contribution up to $750.

"We couldn't be more excited to participate in this great event," said Keys Director of Marking, Bridget McCabe. "The Special Olympics works tirelessly to promote sports programs for individuals with disabilities, and instill the important values of community, friendship, integrity and sportsmanship in all its athletes and volunteers."

To contribute to the team's fundraising efforts, fans can visit the Keys plunge page by clicking here. Currently, Special Olympics Maryland has raised $569,000 for this year's event. A link to the Keys plunge prep video is also available here.

The Frederick Keys kickoff their 2016 season on Thursday, April 7 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on the Grand Strand, while the home opener is scheduled for one week later on April 14 at 7:00 p.m against Lynchburg.
