January 14, 2016

The Princeton Rays have named Nick Carey on January 14 to take over as the team's General Manager. He is expected to arrive and be on the job full-time in Princeton within the next ten days.

Carey joins the P-Rays after serving last season in many roles on the front office staff of the Greeneville Astros, also a member of the Appalachian League. He is a 2015 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism along with minors in Business Management and History. While at MTSU, he worked with the University's baseball program in many operational capacities.

"I am more than proud to be named General Manager of the Princeton Rays, an organization I feel represents one of the model franchises of the Appalachian League. I take this position with the simple objective of building upon the past successes along with the additions of a number of new developments to properly insure that P-Rays fans, sponsors, and players each have the best experience possible at Hunnicutt Field," said Carey upon accepting the job, adding that he is excited to start preparing for the 2016 season.

The native of Boonville, MO was appointed after an almost two-month extensive selection process led by P-Rays' President Mori Williams and the team's Board of Directors. The position became available on November 17, 2015 when long-time P-Rays' General Manager Jim Holland announced he would not be returning to the team for the 2016 season after 24 years on the job in Princeton.

"We went through a lot discussions and resumes' of people interested in being here but in the end we felt Nick was the best qualified candidate for us. We want to thank again Jim Holland for his 24 seasons of service here and we're confident that Nick will pick up where Jim left off without missing a beat," concluded Williams.

The Princeton Rays are in their 20th year as the Appalachian League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. The team's next 68-game season will begin on June 23, 2016 with a three-game series in Burlington,NC versus the Royals.
