Salem Red Sox to Host Mugsy's Holiday Open House

Salem, VA (November 23, 2010) - The Salem Red Sox, Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will host its first annual Mugsy's Holiday Open House in conjunction with Toys for Tots, Clear Channel Radio, and Mugsy, the team's mascot for the past thirteen years. The event will be hosted on Saturday, December 11 at the Salem Red Sox front office, front office parking lot, and official team store from 10am-2pm.

The event will feature free digital photos with Santa and/or Mugsy that will be emailed to specified email address, holiday snacks and punch, kids' arts and crafts station, 20% discount on all Salem Red Sox merchandise, and several ticketing options for holiday gifts including Flex Plans, Kid's Club memberships, and Silver Sluggers Memberships. All activities will complement a toy drive for the Roanoke-area Toys for Tots chapter.

Any person who brings an unwrapped new toy (for age 0-12) to Mugsy's Holiday Open House will automatically be entered to win Salem Red Sox souvenirs and merchandise. Monetary donations are welcome and all proceeds will be used to buy toys for local area children. 100% of the donations will stay in the Roanoke Valley area. ABOUT TOYS FOR TOTS: Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity is the fund raising, funding and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
