Former Ports Friend & Sattler Selected in Rule 5 Draft
Former Stockton Ports pitchers Justin Friend & Daniel Sattler were selected in the 2010 Rule 5 Draft.
Justin Friend was selected in the Triple-A phase of the rule-5 draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. Friend spent majority of the season Ports in 2009. Working entirely out of the bullpen, Friend compiled a 2.87 E.R.A., striking out 64 batters over 59.2 innings-pitched while allowing 29 walks during his 43 games with the Ports. Friend spent time in Double-A, with Midland Rockhounds and eventually finishing his 2009 campaign with the Triple-A, Sacramento River Cats.
Daniel Sattler was selected in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Sattler pitched in 2009 & 2010 with the Stockton Ports. Sattler pitched in a total of 12 games with the Ports allowing a total of 7 earned runs over 11.2 innings-pitched. In 2010, Sattler started the season with the Ports and pitched extremely well, allowing just 2 earned runs over 7.2 innings-pitched prior to be promoted to Double-A, Midland.
