Keys Infielder Ramon Ramirez Killed in Motorcycle Accident

FREDERICK, Md. - On Sunday morning, the Baltimore Orioles announced the passing of Keys infielder, Ramon Ramirez, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in the Dominican Republic on Saturday night. He was 23 years old.

Orioles Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations, Dan Duquette, issued the following statement: "Our entire organization is deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Ramon Ramirez. As a member of the Orioles organization, Ramon worked tirelessly to make the most of his opportunity to play professional baseball. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, teammates and coaches as we mourn this unimaginable loss."

Signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2014, Ramirez played seven games for the Keys in 2015, hitting .143 with two RBIs and five runs scored. His last game action came with Frederick on September 7 against Winston-Salem.

"This is a very tough day for both the Keys and Orioles family," said Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis. "We send our thoughts and prayers to Ramon's family and loved ones during this challenging time."
