Former New York Yankee Enrique Wilson activated to Lynx roster

Versatile infielder to join Lynx today in Rochester

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Lynx announced today that former New York Yankees INF ENRIQUE WILSON has been activated to the Lynx roster. Wilson, 31, has spent the majority of the last seven years as a utility player with the Yankees and the Cleveland Indians. Last year, the versatile Wilson hit .213 with 6 homers and 31 RBI in New York in 93 games, including 64 starts at second base and four at shortstop.

Wilson, a switch-hitter, has a career average of .246 in 540 Major League games. He played in the World Series with the Yankees in both 2001 against the Arizona Diamondbacks and in 2003 against the Florida Marlins. He started his Major League career with the Cleveland Indians in 1997 before being traded to New York in June of 2001.

To make room for Wilson on the Lynx roster, OF RAMON NIVAR was placed on the disabled list with a lower back strain.

The Ottawa Lynx begin a six-game road trip tonight in Rochester against the Red Wings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. RHP JOHN MAINE (0-0, 6.00) is expected to start for the Lynx.
