Kemp cleans up late in Dominican

Outfielder drives in nine runs in Winter League playoffs

It's been a long year for Matt Kemp, but he's ending it on a high note.

The 22-year-old outfielder combined for 10 homers and 70 RBIs at the top two Minor League levels and added seven homers and 23 RBIs with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After a rough Dominican Winter League regular season, Kemp drove in nine runs in 17 playoff games for Tigres Del Licey.

Other Dodgers prospects are competing in various Winter League playoffs. Here's a look at their progress:

Dominican Winter League

2B Tony Abreu -- Abreu raised his batting average 50 points to .319 over the past six games. He has three RBIs and five runs scored in 14 playoff appearances for the Aguilas Cibaenas.

SS Wilson Valdez -- Valdez hit .263 during the regular season, but has been red-hot in the playoffs with the Gigantes del Cibao. He's among the league leaders with a .369 batting average, eight RBIs and 15 runs scored in 17 postseason contests.

Venezuelan Winter League

LHP Matt White -- White made two brief appearances for the Navegantes del Magallanes as his ERA climbed from 3.00 to 4.91. He's surrendered two runs on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings over five playoff games. The right-hander also picked up a win in relief on Jan. 4.

1B/3B Eduardo Perez -- Perez turned it on in six playoff games for Aguilas del Zulia after registering 11 RBIs during the regular season. The infielder has a homer and five RBIs to go with a .364 batting average. On Wednesday, he went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in a 7-2 victory over the Tigres de Aragua.

LHP Jonathan Figueroa -- Figueroa pitched 4 1/3 scoreless frames in four postseason games for the Aguilas del Zulia. He wrapped up his week by tossing 1 2/3 innings in a 7-2 victory over the Tigres de Aragua on Wednesday.

Mexican Pacific League

RHP Elmer Dessens -- Dessens is fourth in the Mexican Pacific League playoffs with 18 1/3 innings pitched. He has a 4.91 ERA after giving up 10 runs on 21 hits in three postseason starts.
