Storm Chasers Voted 'Best of Omaha' for Third Straight Year

Omaha Magazine's awards garner most votes in program's 19-year history
January 3, 2011
PAPILLION, NE - The Omaha Storm Chasers have been awarded Best Sports Team of 2010 by the readers of Omaha Magazine, the third consecutive year the franchise has been voted in the top spot. The club is honored alongside 137 other local businesses in Omaha Magazine's 19th-annual Best of Omaha issue this January, the publication's largest issue ever at 180 pages.

More than 17,000 voters participated in the balloting this year, eclipsing last year's record mark. The 180-page issue is also 50 pages larger than last year's special edition.

"We appreciate Storm Chasers fans and readers of Omaha Magazine for voting us Omaha's favorite sports team for the third consecutive year," said Martie Cordaro, the Storm Chasers Vice President and General Manager. "We are again humbled to win as there are many other great sports organizations in the metro area."

The Storm Chasers, formerly known as the Royals, drew 406,276 in the final season at historic Rosenblatt Stadium, the fifth straight season the club increased its attendance. With brand new Werner Park set to open April 15, Cordaro is excited about the Storm Chasers' opportunity to build on the successes of the past few years.

"Werner Park will be a jewel for all fans in the metro area to enjoy," Cordaro said. "Weitz is doing a tremendous job keeping construction on schedule and our Werner Park offices are now open for business."
