Star Wars jersey night, Disney vacation giveaway highlight Intimidators 2016 promotions

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (February 3, 2016) - As the Kannapolis Intimidators prepare for the 2016 season, the team is planning several new promotions - including special Star Wars and Disney theme nights - to enhance fan experience at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. The Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, plan to add these and more new promotions to the team's successful slate of fireworks nights, weekly deal days, and holiday celebrations. 

The Intimidators will transport fans to a galaxy far, far away with the team's first ever Star Wars Night on Saturday, June 25, complete with themed uniforms, special giveaways, characters, and more. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the special Star Wars jerseys throughout the game during a silent auction with proceeds going to benefit the Cabarrus County Education Foundation. The team will cap the night with a special fireworks show set to the iconic music of Star Wars.

The most magical game of the season will also be the happiest game of the season for one local family. The Intimidators will be giving away a $2,500 vacation package to Walt DisneyWorld on Saturday, August 13. The Disney-themed night will include character appearances, and a sing-a-long contest featuring favorite childhood songs. All fans in attendance will have a chance to win the grand prize vacation package.

The Intimidators will also continue the team's Independence Day tradition with a weekend full of fireworks starting with a special All-American Community Celebration and fireworks show on Saturday, July 2, featuring a youth baseball game and carnival-like atmosphere at the ballpark. On Monday, July 4, the team hosts its Independence Day fireworks extravaganza with the Intimidators facing the Hagerstown Suns at 7:05 p.m. and fireworks after the final out.

A complete promotions schedule, complete with more fireworks nights, themed games, weekly promotions, and giveaways will be released in the coming weeks with single-game tickets going on sale in early March. The Intimidators are currently preparing for the 22nd season of professional baseball in Kannapolis and 16th season as a Chicago White Sox affiliate. Since the team's inception in 1995, a total of 85 players have gone from Kannapolis to the Major Leagues.
