January 18, 2011
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The 34th annual Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar is headed to the popular, family vacation destination city of Myrtle Beach, S.C., this fall. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will serve as the host club for the weekend seminar, which also includes a Welcome Reception, from September 23-26.

The MiLB Promotional Seminar allows sports professionals to discuss and exchange ideas about topics such as social media, promotions, sales & marketing, merchandising, operations and more. Popular facets of the event, including the Group Therapy Sessions, Hour of Power, and the "Best-Of" Awards, will once again be included.

"We are excited to be bringing the 2011 Promo Seminar to beautiful Myrtle Beach," Tim Purpura, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Minor League Baseball, said. "We look forward to continuing to provide attendees with opportunities to network, share ideas and break new ground in the areas of marketing and sales, promotions, and innovative and creative programming opportunities for their teams and their sports.

"We are also extremely happy to be conducting this year's seminar in the home of one of the finest franchises in Minor League Baseball, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. In addition to their outstanding regular season program, the Pelicans staff has proven to be a very talented group when it comes to conducting special events, such as the Promo Seminar, and we look forward to working with them to make this year's event a memorable one."

"With innovative promotions, world class attractions and miles of family friendly beaches that attract more than 14 million visitors each year, Myrtle Beach provides an ideal setting for the most progressive minds in Minor League Baseball to combine a lively exchange of the game's best marketing ideas with fun," remarked Scott Brown, Pelicans General Manager. "For the Pelicans and the entire Grand Strand community, it is a distinct honor to host the MiLB Promotional Seminar during one of the best beach months of the season."

A trade show, job fair and several social events are also part of the two-and-a-half day seminar. The Promotional Seminar Trade Show offers attendees an early peek at the new items available to them for the 2012 season. The Professional Baseball Employment Opportunities (PBEO) program will enable clubs to post jobs, interview candidates and hire on-site.

The Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel, located within walking distance of the beach, shopping, dining and attractions, will serve as the host hotel. BB&T Coastal Field, home of the Carolina League Pelicans, is less than a half-mile from the Sheraton and will host a social event during the seminar.

More information about the Promo Seminar will be available in the coming months on MiLB.com.
