The Johnson City Cardinals have announced that Sean Salemme has been hired as Assistant General Manager. Salemme joins the Cardinals after spending the past season as a Sales Executive for the Kannapolis Intimidators, a Chicago White Sox affiliate located in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to come to Johnson City and work for the Cardinals organization", said Salemme. "I look forward to meeting with the fans and to help build on the success of last year's championship season. It is also an added bonus to work for an organization like the Johnson City Sports Foundation and to have the ability to make such a positive impact on the community."
Prior to joining the Intimidators, Salemme worked as a marketing assistant for Baseball America in 2008. The 2009 season marked his first season in professional baseball working for the Appalachian League's Princeton Rays as a marketing and baseball operations intern.
Salemme expressed his appreciation for his former employers by stating, "I am very thankful for the support I received from my mentors in Kannapolis and Princeton. They played a vital role in preparing me for the position I am in today."
Salemme is a native of Laurinburg, North Carolina, where he was active in baseball and basketball as a youth. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University receiving degrees in History and Sport Management.
