SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds, in conjunction with Wicomico County Recreation, Parks and Tourism, are pleased to announce that National Pro Fastpitch softball will be returning to Salisbury on July 14 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The contest will feature a regular season matchup between the Akron Racers and Pennsylvania Rebellion at 6:35 p.m.

NPF is the only professional women's softball league in the United States, and the it boasts the best softball talent from around the world. The league's appearance in Salisbury coincides with the USSSA Eastern World Series, which will welcome 350 teams and approximately 13,000 visitors to the region in July.

"We are happy to announce that the National Pro Fastpitch is returning to Wicomico County this summer," Wicomico County executive Bob Culver said. "It will certainly be a memorable experience for our local citizens and those visiting for the USSSA Eastern World Series to see these talented players in action."

The Racers, who are the oldest existing team in NPF, will be celebrating their 15th season of play in 2016. Their roster is expected to feature a number of exciting players including US National Team member Sam Fischer and pitcher Sarah Pauly, who is NPF's all-time leader in wins, innings pitched, complete games and games started.

Roster highlights for the Rebellion include two-time Australian Olympian Stacey Porter and pitcher Dallas Escobedo, who was the No. 1 pick of the 2014 NPF Draft.

This marks the second time in three years in which the Shorebirds have hosted a NPF action at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. In 2014, Salisbury played host to a series of games between the Rebellion and USSSA Pride.

"The Shorebirds couldn't be happier to again be hosting a National Pro Fastpitch game after a successful event in 2014," Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters said. "We encourage the community to come out and experience what will be a great night of world-class athletes playing softball at the highest level."

Tickets for the game are on sale at the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium Box Office and online at theshorebirds.com. Ticket pricing will be $12 for reserved seating and $10 for general admission. Standard service charges apply.
