Troy Landry, Shooter McGavin and Nickelodeon Highlight Memorable Promotional Schedule

Iron Manny Machado Bobblehead Among 2016 Giveaways

FREDERICK, Md. -The Frederick Keys are thrilled to announce a fun and jam-packed 2016 promotional schedule. Featuring over 20 fireworks nights, one of the greatest antagonists in sports movie history and the return of a nationally acclaimed theme night, this year's schedule offers something for fans of all ages. Plenty of great giveaway items are also in store, highlighted by a one-of-a-kind bobblehead featuring Manny Machado.

Fans have come to expect outstanding celebrity appearances and this year's group may be the best yet. Highlighting this lineup is Troy Landry from the hit History Channel Show "Swamp People." Taking place on July 8 at 7:00 p.m, Landry will be on hand as part of "Fredneck Night" and will greet fans and sign autographs. Keys players will also wear special camo hats which will be auctioned off after the game.

To celebrate the weekend of the U.S. Open Golf Tournament, the Keys welcome one of the most controversial characters in sports filmography. Played by Christopher McDonald, Shooter McGavin is scheduled to appear at Nymeo Field on Saturday, June 18 as part of "Happy Gilmore Night." First pitch is slated for 6 p.m, while the first 1,000 fans will receive a McGavin bobblehead.

Rounding out this year's celebrity A-list are Bradley Whitford and Mick Foley. An Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actor, Whitford will visit Nymeo Field on September 2, when the team celebrates "West Wing Night." On the show, Whitford played the role of Josh Lyman, the Deputy Chief of Staff under fictional president Jeb Bartlett and Campaign Manager for Jimmy Santos.

Nicknamed "The Hardcore Legend" for his ability to absorb cruel and unusual punishment, Foley comes to Frederick on Friday, July 1 at 7 p.m. A three-time WWE Champion and one of the sport's most-renowned figures, Foley has also earned accolades as a New York Times best-selling author, stand-up comedian and television actor.    

For the second straight season, the Keys will partner with Nickelodeon. After earning national media attention for specialized Chucky Finster-themed uniforms, the team will once again sport unique attire as part of a 90s Nickelodeon Night. Taking place on Friday June 17 at 7p.m, the Keys will wear Hey Arnold-designed jerseys and pants. Visiting Lynchburg will also get in the act, while there will be a variety of fun games and videos throughout the night.   

Three other fan favorites also return in 2016. Team Ghost Riders and the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo visits Nymeo Field on Saturday, July 23 at 6 p.m. Led by Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard, this see it to believe it show, features monkeys dressed as cowboys riding dogs as though they were horses while herding sheep. One of Minor League Baseball's premier acts, Team Ghost Riders garnered national attention this fall after performing during halftime of a Monday Night Football game.

Younger fans will want to circle May 15 on their calendars, as the Candy Drop returns to Frederick. Taking place after the Keys 2 p.m. game against Myrtle Beach, the team will drop more than 200 lbs of candy from a helicopter into the outfield, giving youngsters a chance to enjoy a late-afternoon sugar rush. The event wraps up Candy Land Day, which includes a pregame Ice Cream Social for all Kids Club members.

An early season favorite, Star Wars Night returns on Saturday, April 30. First pitch is at 2 p.m, and features members of the Rebel Legion performing light saber battles between innings. Additionally, fans can meet their favorite characters before the game.

There will be plenty of chances for fans to see fireworks, with 23 shows scheduled for 2016. Fireworks follow all Friday, Saturday and Sunday night home games.

Plenty of great giveaways litter this year's promotional schedule, to go along with seven jersey/hat auctions. Besides the Shooter McGavin Bobblehead, the first 1,000 fans will receive an "Iron Manny" Machado bobblehead on Saturday, May 21 presented by Flying Dog Brewery. This one-of-a-kind item celebrates Machado as being the only MLB player to suit up for all 162 games during the 2015 season. Decked out in a special costume, fans are also encouraged to dress up to celebrate Superhero Night.

Keys players and coaches will wear special jerseys as part of Be Seen in Green Night (April 15), 90s Nickelodeon Night (June 17), Cancer Awareness Night (August 12) and Art in the Park (September 3). Meanwhile, the team will do three different hat auctions in July. These include patriotic hats on Sunday, July 3, camo hats as part of Fredneck Night on July 8 and special purple hats to celebrate Safe at Home Night on July 22.

The Keys kickoff their season on April 7 at Myrtle Beach, while the home opener takes place one week later, when the Lynchburg Hillcats visit Nymeo Field for a 7:00 p.m first pitch.
