The updated rules addressed two key points which differentiate it from last season:
- B (3)(a)-(b)The pitch following any dead ball or timeout is untimed. The timer begins for the second pitch following any dead ball or timeout.
- C (1)-(6) Mound visits by the manager or a coach are now timed at :30 from the time the foul line is crossed. There is no ball/strike penalty.
Returning regulations from last season include a 2:25 inning break/pitching change timer, 20 second pitch timer, and descriptions of general POG violations.
The International League saw a reduction in average time for 8.5 and 9.0 inning games from 2:56 in 2014 to 2:40 in 2015. This change came as a result of a league-wide commitment to POG policies, which have been widely regarded as a success in their efforts to expedite play by eliminating unnecessary delays.
