National Anthem Auditions Set for March 12
(AKRON, OHIO) March 2, 2016 - The Akron RubberDucks are seeking talented singers to tryout at its national anthem auditions on March 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Canal Park. Pre-registration is required.
For a chance to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" at one of the RubberDucks 71 home games, candidates will need to impress two local music professionals and educators in addition to the RubberDucks staff.
"The singing the national anthem is one of baseball's great traditions," said promotions coordinator Christina Urycki. "We will be looking for fans who can really impress!"
National Anthem Auditions Details (pre-registration required):
What: Auditions to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" before a 2016 RubberDucks game
When/Where: March 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Canal Park.
-PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED- Candidates should call the Akron RubberDucks office at 330-253-5151 during normal business hours (Mon.-Fri., 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to reserve a time slot. Slots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Day-of-Event: Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to their secured-time slot and be ready to sing.
Professional Choral and Voice Judges:
- Christine Stewart, DeWitt Elementary - Music Teacher
- Leanne Stofsick, Cuyahoga Falls School District - Vocal Music Teacher
Auditions will be cut off after 90 seconds. No tapes or recordings are required nor will be accepted.
Candidates should enter through the main administrative office entrance located at 300 South Main Street, and should wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to sing outside on the concourse over Canal Park's public address system.
