Open-to-public "TicketFest" set for March 12

Fans can watch lazy river take shape, purchase single-game tickets for first time
March 4, 2016

(TicketFest will take place, rain or shine, with on-field activities weather permitting)

FRISCO, TEXAS (March 4, 2016) - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced on Friday its first-ever, free-to-attend TicketFest event at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Saturday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The event will mark the first opportunity for fans to purchase single-game tickets, including "Thursday Night Pool Party" tickets for the new Choctaw Lazy River. TicketFest will also coincide with the gunite process of the lazy river, a major construction phase of the pool, in which it will take shape.

This is the first date that fans will be able to purchase tickets for all 70 individual home games, including Opening Night on April 14, Runner-Up Night on April 26, the season finale on Labor Day, September 5, all post-game fireworks nights and "Thursday Night Pool Parties." Fans can purchase the tickets in-person beginning at 10 a.m. with tickets starting at just $7!

"Thursday Night Pool Parties" will take place on all Thursdays after the Choctaw Lazy River is completed. On these nights, for only $39 per ticket, individuals can enjoy full 360-degree Lazy River access, pre-game live music, and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, brats, chips, peanuts, and Dr Pepper products. Plus, each Thursday is "Thirsty Thursday," offering $1 select domestic drafts and $2 craft beers from 6-8 p.m. for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.

The Choctaw Lazy River was announced last Thursday to much fanfare. At TicketFest, the lazy river will "come to life," moving from a frame to a shape very representative of the final product. Dozens of workers will shoot "gunite," a mixture of cement and sand, at extreme velocities onto the rebar, reinforced steel frame, to create the wet concrete material that will make up the base of the lazy river tube. Gunite pools are considered the highest quality of all pool categories due to gunite's durability, flexibility of use for complex designs, and relatively smooth finish. Fans will be able to see this process happening in real time during TicketFest, weather permitting. The entire Choctaw Lazy River project is set to be completed by early June.

TicketFest will be a fan-fest-like event, with music and exclusive RoughRiders multimedia content played throughout. Fans are encouraged to bring a ball and glove to play catch on the field, kids can run the bases, and a limited concession menu will be available, including $1 offerings of a variety of fan favorites including draft beer, Dr Pepper products, bottled water, coffee, hot dogs, nachos, breakfast tacos, candy, and chips. Both the Primrose Schools and McAfee playgrounds will be open along with inflatables, and more.

Of course, the RoughRiders mascots Deuce and Daisy will make an appearance, and Brooks, the Riders Team Dog and Ambassador, will be in attendance.

The Riders Outpost will also be open with select items 25% off of their regular, retail price and dozens of new items available for the upcoming 2016 season.

Fans unable to attend TicketFest can still purchase tickets online for all 2016 home games at RidersBaseball.com beginning at 10:00am. Tickets will also be available over the phone by calling (972) 731-9200.

About the RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers and play their games at beautiful Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 11 seasons (2005-2015). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg and Scott Sonju. The new ownership group has spearheaded numerous major franchise improvements, from a completely new team identity to massive additions and upgrades to Dr Pepper Ballpark, including a giant new video board, sound system, sports bar, team store, improved food service and menu, and a complete overhaul of in-game entertainment. The improvements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco "Best Ballpark Renovation" of 2015 by Ballpark Digest in the under $6 million category. More than 130 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball, including All-Stars Chris Davis, Elvis Andrus, Adrian Gonzalez and Ian Kinsler.
