60-Degree Weather Guarantee Returns April 14 for Indianapolis Indians Opening Night

March 7, 2016

March 7, 2016 - The 114th consecutive season of Indianapolis Indians baseball begins on Thursday, April 14 with a 7:05 p.m. home game versus the Columbus Clippers and will include several special promotions including the sixth annual 60-Degree Weather Guarantee, Bike to the Ballpark, a postgame fireworks show and more.

The Indians guarantee the outside temperature will be at least 60 degrees at game time or fans in attendance may exchange their April 14, 2016 ticket for any remaining home game in April 2016. WTHR-TV is the official weather partner of the Tribe.

Even before the first pitch, fans are invited to be part of Bike to the Ballpark. The annual tradition begins at downtown's Sun King Brewery. The supervised 1.7-mile ride is free and open to riders of all ages. Once inside Victory Field fans age 21 and older may celebrate the first tapping of the new season's Sun King Indians Lager. Game tickets are not part of Bike to the Ballpark but can be purchased in advance or on the day of the game. Sun King is the official craft beer of the Tribe.

Immediately following the game, and with the beautiful downtown Indianapolis skyline as a backdrop, the night sky over Victory Field will come to life with a fireworks spectacular - the first of 14 this season - thanks to Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and Radio Now 100.9 FM.

In addition, as fans arrive at the ballpark the first 12,500 people will receive a free 2016 Indianapolis Indians schedule magnet thanks to PPG Paints, Indianapolis Power and Light and WTHR-TV.

The Indians home opener not only starts the Indians' season, it also launches the team's longest home stand of the 2016 campaign - seven games against International League West Division foes - giving Central Indiana baseball fans ample opportunity to cure any lingering symptoms of cabin fever. In addition to hosting Columbus, Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians for games through Apr. 17, the Tribe also hosts the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers), Apr. 18-20.

Single-game tickets are available for all 72 Indians home games by visiting IndyIndians.com where buying at least a day in advance saves fans $2 on each ticket, or by calling the Victory Field box office at (317) 269-2282. The $2 savings also applies to walk-up ticket purchases starting March 21. The Victory Field Box Office hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday or Saturdays in the Hot Corner Gift Shop from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
