Jamey Newberg’s profile on Luke Jackson:
Luke Jackson, RHP

Texas signed Jackson in mid-August, convincing the supplemental first-rounder to forgo a commitment to the University of Miami. He'll make his official debut in 2011, likely with the Arizona League club once its short-season schedule kicks off in June. Thought in the days leading up to the draft to be a candidate to go to the Rangers as early as their first selection at number 15 overall, Jackson already sits in the low 90s with a fastball that touches 96. Texas is excited about the projectable righthander, who will pitch most of the 2011 season at age 19.
