Round Rock Express to Honor Those Killed in Action on Military Appreciation Jerseys

Families Can Submit Photos in Honor of Loved Ones Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice
March 10, 2016

ROUND ROCK, Texas - On Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, the Round Rock Express will honor those men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation's freedom. Families can submit a photo in honor of a loved one who was killed in action to be memorialized in the numbers on the back of the custom Military Appreciation Day jerseys to be worn by the Express players and coaches.

The jerseys will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds benefiting America's Mighty Warriors, a nonprofit organization that honors our nation's fallen and their families through resiliency and recovery programs.

"It is with great pride that America's Mighty Warriors stands with the Round Rock Express as we honor and celebrate our Veterans who have sacrificed greatly for the freedoms we enjoy in America," said Debbie Lee, founder of America's Mighty Warriors and mother of Navy SEAL Marc Alan Lee, the first Navy SEAL to lose his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom. "These are our true heroes! Our Veterans signed a blank check and were willing to pay up to the price of their lives, just as my son, Marc did. We will never forget the price paid by our brave warriors and their families."

In 2015, the Express honored our nation's military with the names of over 400 active duty and veteran servicemen and women listed on the team's jerseys. The postgame jersey auction raised over $12,500 for Guardian for Heroes Foundation and Base Camp 40.

Now through March 20, fans can submit a photo online along with information about their loved one. The first 200 submissions will be accepted. Submitted stories will be shared in various forms throughout Dell Diamond during Military Appreciation Day.

Additional details about Military Appreciation Day will be announced at a later date.

The Express opens the 2016 season on the road before returning to Dell Diamond for the home opener on Friday, April 15 against the Iowa Cubs. Single game tickets are on sale now.
