Portland staff entering toboggan tourney

Sea Dogs' front office heading downhill this weekend

PORTLAND, Maine -- Four members of the Portland Sea Dogs' front office staff will shift gears from the boys of summer to the titans of tobogganing as the Sea Dogs will participate in the 17th Annual U.S. National Toboggan Championships. The National Toboggan Championships take place at the Camden Snow Bowl in Camden, Maine from Feb. 2-4.

The Sea Dogs' entry in the U.S. National Toboggan Championship is comprised of team captain Tony Cameron (Assistant Director of Ticketing), Jim Heffley (Vice President), Chris Cameron (Assistant General Manager/Public Relations), and Corey Thompson (Director of Group Sales).

This is the first time the Sea Dogs have entered the event. The Sea Dogs will be competing against more than 140 teams in the four-person division. Qualifying runs for the four-person division are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Sea Dogs' toboggan team took advantage of the Hadlock Field grandstand on Tuesday afternoon for a few practice runs. The team uniforms will consist of a Sea Dogs home jersey, mad bomber hat and goggles. Prizes are awarded for the fastest teams, most team spirit, and best team costume/theme.

The Sea Dogs open the 2007 season on April 5 at 6 p.m. at Hadlock Field against the Connecticut Defenders (Giants). Tickets for the 2007 season are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs' Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or on-line at www.seadogs.com.
